On March 30, 2021, the Verona Lions Club celebrated their 70th anniversary with an outdoor get together at Avenue Bistro in Verona. Holding the original charter are Richard Camp and Joe Benyo. President Hector Gonzalez presented VLC hats to the members in attendance.
VLC member Bill Edge delivers 4,355 pairs of glasses to the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center. Residents are asked to only deposit eyeglasses (no cases please) in collection boxes. VLC has also expanded its collection to Caldwell and West Caldwell.
VLC assists 60 local families with Shop Rite Gift Cards! VLC co-chairs Bill Edge & Myron Spektor coordinated the club’s annual food assistance program coordinated through the Verona Local Assistance Board. In 2020, over $6,600 in Shop Rite & local restaurant gift cards were donated to the community.
